Disney Parks have announced a new program that will cover the full cost of their cast members higher education.
The new scheme is called Disney Aspire and will pay the full tuition for hourly cast members. It will also re-imburse additional course fees and the cost of text books.
“If there is anything our founder, Walt Disney, taught us, it’s that unrelenting curiosity and inquisitiveness can transform into magic… and it’s the magic that stems from his dream that our thousands of cast members carry out each and every day…. And now it’s our turn to make their dreams come true.” Said Thomas Smith, Editorial Content Director for Disney Parks.
With an initial investment of $50 million and up to $25 million annually, Disney will pay for tuition up front. This will even include courses that are unrelated to cast members’ current roles at the parks. With the intention to make it easier for them to take their first steps toward a better future.
As well as paying for the tution Disney will also help support staff members through the entire higher education process from application, to enrollment all the way through to graduation.
The new scheme will start from the 28th of August 2018 and will be eligible for all U.S.-based hourly full-time and part-time Disney cast members and employees.
